Don’t Give Up Your Blog Too Soon

I continually run across individuals who advocate blogging for at least two years in order to realize its greatest potential. I ran into another one this past week. The two year figure is constantly showing up so it must be true and there must be an underlying reason to it, although I am sure that it would be hard to pinpoint.

Unfortunately, blogging is truly a marathon and not a sprint so you must continue to plug away at it while getting seemingly little in return. The only thing that I can offer is to sit down, keep going, and mark your calendars. In the meantime, I will offer encouragement by posting several links that would suggest you need to stick it out for two years.

Bloggers Suggesting Two Years

I have mentioned Len Penzo on this blog before. It took him 31 months to reach one million views, but

Four Reasons that Content is King

When I wrote about six tips for making a grand per month as a part-time blogger, I promised that I would delve a little deeper into each of those six items. Well, now is the time to look more closely at the importance of your content. We have all heard the adage, “Content is King” and assume that the statement is true.

I have to say that I agree with the statement and would state that you should be spending the majority of your blogging time working on creating good content. But what is it that makes content so important? Here are four reasons that you should be focusing on your content when working on your blog.

1. Content Defines the Blog’s Purpose

Ultimately, the purpose for the existence of the blog is defined by and reflected in the content that appears on the blog. The purpose of this blog

It All Starts With One

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” -Lao-tzu (Chinese Philosopher)

I was reading a post this week from Len Penzo who was celebrating 2 million page views on his blog. Two Million! But rather than stand in awe (which I did by the way), I couldn’t help but notice that his site had only 13,000 page views after 9 full months. That was incredibly encouraging to me because that is precisely about where I am nine months into writing at my blog, Cash Flow Mantra.

We all have to start somewhere. McDonald’s had to sell that first cheeseburger. Nike had to sell that first pair of shoes. Thomas Edison had to test that first filament to discover a better method. And Len Penzo had to publish that first post, get that first visitor, and respond to his first comment. Every success story starts with one.

How to Start a Money Making Blog–Get Busy

We have already gone through a few steps on starting a blog for making money in the first three parts of this series. Well, now comes the difficult part and that is simply to go out and get it done. I wish there was an easier way, but there isn’t. It is going to take several months (if not a year or two) to actually get to the point of making money with a blog.

You will have to publish on a consistent basis. I would recommend at least twice per week if not more. I would also suggest publishing on a fairly set schedule. For my other blog, I have gone with a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule for my main posts and will sometimes do a round-up or link post on the weekends when I get a chance. The plan for this blog is to do Monday and Thursday.

How to Start a Money Making Blog–Part 3

Welcome to our little Saturday series on starting a money making blog. I am sharing my tips and advice for developing a steady stream of blogging income just like I have been able to do for the past few months. In part 1, I ask you to write out and list several of your passions along with some subtopics to give you an idea of what you might blog about. In part 2, I want you to look at what other blogs are on the web in your selected topics to see how those sites are making money. This can give you a clue as to which topics would have the potential to make money.

Starting a Blog

Now in part 3, it is time to get busy and start a blog. The first thing that you will need is a domain name. Now if you can come up with
