Rates vary, but many people can get as much as $1,500 per house, and some people are making over $10,000 a month cleaning out foreclosures.

In the beginning, while you are trying to prove yourself, you likely won’t make this much.  You may want to offer lower rates for the first few jobs while you gain experience.  Then, after cleaning several foreclosures, you can raise your rates.

How Do You Get These Types of Jobs?

This business is all about your connections, so you will need to make a good impression on local real estate agents who need to hire people to clean foreclosures.  You could call banks in the area and ask if they need anyone to clean foreclosures.

The best way to attract new clients is to be professional, offer competitive cleaning rates and have a flexible schedule.  These homes often need to be cleaned quickly and at a moment’s notice, so if you have a flexible schedule, you’ll likely get more clients.

When you complete the job, make sure that you do good work, and ask for a testimonial from your client.  Another strategy is to ask them to refer you to someone else who might need your services.

Other Ways You Can Make Money Doing This Job

Often, the person hiring you doesn’t care what you do with the valuables that are left behind.  If this is the case, you can sell them on Craigslist or eBay and make additional money beyond what you earn for cleaning the foreclosure.

If you aren’t afraid of heavy lifting and working hard and you have a flexible schedule, cleaning foreclosures may be the job for you.  Once you gain some experience and testimonials, you should be able to gain more clients.  The good news is that often only cleaning one foreclosure a month will be enough to earn you a grand a month.
